Native Bee enthusiast Marty will be presenting a fascinating introduction to Native Sting-less Bees. He will demonstrate hive design, splitting these hives and most of all honey extraction. As per the name these bees do not sting, if annoyed they are able to give you a bite which feels like a coastal brown ant. They are a great addition to anyone back yard especially if you have children or have reactions to European Bees.
If time allows Marty will go into a few of the other Native Bees which can be found in the local area and discuss how to encourage them into your garden, by planting flora and creating habitat.
This is the second year this talk has been given at Gold Coast Permaculture. This workshop costs $20 or $10 government concession and will be held under the Mango tree at 270 Ferry Road Southport between 10-12.Arrival 10 mins before the start of the workshop will help us get started on time.
